Abductor muscle of little toe

(the little finger abductorabductor Quinti) is a muscle located along the lateral border of foot, and is related to its medial border with the lateral plantar vessels and nerves.

Abductor muscle of little toe largely arises from the lateral process of the tuberosity of the calcaneus,

starts from the bottom surface of the calcaneus between the two processes of the tuberosity, to the front of the internal process of the plantar fascia, and intermuscular septum lying between it and the Flexor digitorum brevis of the foot.

Abductor muscle of little toe

as it covers the tendon after slipping gently on the underside of the base of the fifth metatarsal bone is inserted with the Flexor brevis Quinti, fibular side of the base of the first phalanx of the fifth finger.

The main function of both the abductor little toe and its corresponding tendon: the flexion and abduction (rather small) of the fifth toe, we must not forget that while the tendons and muscles work synergistically not eventually they just do it as separate parts of a set of interconnected and interrelated bodies each other in a way or another.

Due to its important role during the posture abductor little toe is often the most affected,

as in physical activity in vertical position, where the adductor muscle of little toe is often the target of injury . Occurs more frequently this type of injury to women and is known as orteil Belette, also known as Weasel toe.

In the case of polydactyly can put your finger on the sixth, if available.
